Everyone says they are concerned about the environment, but voter interest and election patterns never seem to correspond to that interest. So here is your chance to get out and pay our environment more than lip service: All of the candidates for Tampa City Council and mayor in the upcoming March 6 elections have been invited to an environmental debate, sponsored by the Florida Consumer Action Network, Clean Water Fund, Friends of the River, and Sierra Club and moderated by the Hillsborough League of Women Voters.

The debate starts tonight (Monday, Feb. 19) at 7 p.m. and will be at the Children's Board of Hillsborough County building in Ybor City, at 1002 E. Palm Ave. I'll be there.
