In the past few months, the uproar has become deafening regarding the fact that so many men and women who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan have to wait an exceedingly long time to begin receiving medical care.
The backlog for veterans disability claims now exceeds 900,000, as reported late last year by Aaron Glantz with the Center for Investigative Reporting.
Reacting to the drumbeat of criticism, the Veterans Affairs Department announced today that they are expediting compensation claims decisions for veterans who have waited one year or longer.
But Tampa area Democratic Congresswoman Kathy Castor said that the V.A. still has to do more.
