Despite it being one of the cooler places to see a movie, Centro Ybor’s movie theater will close for good after 19 years in business.

According to WTVT, details on the closing of AMC Classic Centro Ybor 10 are still unclear, but city officials say the theater will shut down next month to make way for retail and co-working space.

An employee with the theater confirmed the closure to Creative Loafing and noted that the last day will be July 14.

Opening in 2000, the theater was the centerpiece of the $45 million Centro Ybor entertainment complex. Over the years, half of the screens were removed to make room for the Ashley Furniture headquarters, and in its last few years the staff was downsized to the point moviegoers had to buy tickets from the concession stand.

Hopefully the space doesn't end up a giant Ashley Furniture showroom.
