This just in from one of the organizers of the Veterans for Peace banquet and press conference today that was supposed to feature antiwar activist Cindy Sheehan:
Out of genuine respect for your time, I wanted to let you know that Cindy will not be in attendance today, due to the fact that the judge and prosecutor in NY City decided to take what should have been a $95 midemeanor tresspassing ticket that Cindy and her other defendants could have mailed in and gotten on with their lives, they chose to use over a week of Cindy's life and the taxpayers money to try to convict the defendants of resisting arrest and other charges.
The good news: Veterans For Peace national President Michael McPhearson will still be in attendence, along with a peace activist who drove a 40 ft bus with "Bring Them Home Now" on it all the way from West Texas (over 1,000 miles) to be a part of this event.
