Yesterday in this space we showed a videotape that Marco Rubio's team supplied showing him answering a question from a constituent. The first question was why the heck was Rubio and the rest of the Senate taking the month of August off, while the American financial situation appears to be teetering on the brink?
Perhaps someone should get that video to GOP 2012 Senate hopeful Craig Miller, who today blasted the man he hopes to be running against next year, Bill Nelson for his plans to attend a Nevada fundraiser during the summer break, saying:
It is unacceptable that Congress takes vacation for an entire month after it and the President brought the country to the brink of default. The people I’m talking to on Main Street don’t understand how career politicians like Bill Nelson can reward themselves with time off after they’ve spent over 800 days operating without a budget. They don’t understand how the people in Washington get a break from work, when many of them can’t even find jobs thanks to the policies coming out of Congress.
