Deadline to register for Tampa municipal elections is today, January 31 & City Council candidate fundraising numbers

The headline above says it all.  If  you live in the city of Tampa and want to vote in the mayoral and city council elections on March 1, you have until the end of the day to register to vote in that contest.

Those who wish to register can download registration forms at www.votehillsborough.org or can pick them up at the Robert L. Gilder Elections Service Center at 2514 Falkenburg Road.

All mailed registration forms must be postmarked by January 31, or hand delivered to either the Falkenberg site or the Supervisor's office on Kennedy Blvd. in the County Center by tomorrow.

Meanwhile,  it was revealed late Friday that Dick Greco, only in the race for two full months now, has catapulted to the top of the list in fundraising in the mayor's race, having raised a total of $293,371.  Rose Ferlita was second with $243,518, Bob Buckhorn 167,656, Ed Turanchik fourth with $62,249, and Thomas Scott fifth with $29,655.

Among city council candidates, Mike Suarez, who got into the race in late December in District 1, has raised $9,275, Guido Maniscalco $11,455, Curtis Stokes, $24,125.  District 2 candidates: Mary Mulhern has raised $20,950, Scott Strepina $13,977. District 3 candidates: Jason Wilson $11,350, Seth Nelson $37,646, Yolie Capin #12,135, Michael Ciftci $15,926.  District 4 candidates: Harry Cohen $42,420, Julie Jenkins $24,311, Joe Citro $7,100, Dennis Meyers $5,850, Tony DeSisto $28,920 (and $10,000 loan to his own campaign)  District 5 candidates: Carrie West $10,390.  Frank Reddick $10,354,Herald Lord $3,692, Stanley Gloster $1,795, Lynette Judge $1,535.   District 6 candidates: Kelly Benjamin$5,124 Charlie Miranda (who didn't announce until late December) hasn't raised much more than a thousand dollars, but has loaned his campaign $20,000.  District 7 candidates: Lisa Montelione $4,920, Charles Perkins $5,755, Joe Caetano $11,600, Dean Hale, $11,542 & $8,500 loan.
