If Scott Brown does defeat Martha Coakley in the much watched Massachusetts Senate race tonight, it's because independent voters in the Bay State are leaning overwhelmingly toward the Republican in the race.
Although much is made of how Blue the state is as a Democratic redoubt, 2.1 million voters (more than half the voters in the state) are registered as independent.
A Suffolk poll taken over the weekend of bellwether areas of the state showed Brown with double-digit leads, mainly because of independent voters.
