As the Florida primary election reports start to roll in, one of the first biggies to come across our transom was AP calling the Florida Republican gubernatorial nomination race for Trump-endorsed U.S. Representative Ron DeSantis, who reportedly beat the next-closest candidate, outgoing Florida Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services Adam Putnam, by double digits.

According to reports, Putnam conceded around the time DeSantis was taking 57 percent of the vote to Putnam’s 37 percent. It’s long been assumed that this particular race would come down to these two guys, who’ve not-so-subtly been trying to out-Trump one another for months, but most expected it to be a much tighter race — at least until the president himself endorsed DeSantis last month at Tampa’s Florida State Fairgrounds.
