1. Northwest foursome Portugal. The Man (pictured) brings their psychedelic alterna-soul to Orpheum. Support sets are provided by hard rocking Brooklyn trio Earl Greyhound and Canada's Wintersleep.
2. Tampa Theatre hosts a limited, two-night screening of Chris & Don: A Love Story, a documentary about the complicated, three-decade-long relationship between British writer Christopher Isherwood (The Berlin Stories) and American portrait painter Don Bachardy.
3. Game 1 of the World Series kicks off tonight at the Trop. The game starts at 8 p.m. and is broadcast live on FOX.
4. University of Tampa welcomes National Geographic photographer Annie Griffiths Belt for Connect with Anybody, Anywhere, a talk about her career and world travels. A special pre-talk reception features student artwork from UTs international photography contest; Belt will select the winner.
5. New York Times war correspondent Dexter Filkins appear at Inkwood Books for a discussion about and signing of his new book, The Forever War, a frontline account of the chain of events leading up to and culminating with the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
