This Saturday night, Largo Cultural Center celebrates the music and legacy of The Doors with a special event to raise money for its nonprofit performing arts organization, Partners N Progress for the Arts. The festivities kick off with a party at 6:30 p.m. Guests enjoy refreshments, a cash bar, a retro (1960s and '70s) costume contest with prizes, and the highlight, an eBay auction of rock memorabilia. Among the biddable items is a door taken from Jim Morrison's childhood home in Clearwater and artistically painted by local artist Doug Wright as part of a limited series of works commissioned by Triangle Development Company for charity. The auction starts at 7 p.m.
At 8 p.m., Doors tribute band Peace Frog takes the center stage and recreates a Doors concert experience, complete with a lead singer who channels the spirit of Jim Morrison. Expect to see classics like "Hello, I Love You," "Light My Fire," "L.A. Woman" and "The End" as well as a variety of other lesser-known songs from the Doors' catalog.
