The Perro Tapes
DAVID CROSBY
Having already built his rep as a founding member of The Byrds and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, David Crosby finally got around to releasing his solo debut album If I Could Only Remember My Name in February 1971. The LP failed to produce any hit singles, but it stands as a classic example of the laid-back West Coast sound that Crosby helped pioneer. The Perro Tapes is a collection of outtakes from the 1970 sessions. The MP3s posted at AquariumDrunkard.com are hiss-free and warm, the songs ranking with the ones that made the final cut, especially the bucolic, banjo-driven "Mountain Song."
