The synth intro is immediately recognizable. We've all heard the Cyndi Lauper ballad "Time After Time." But then out struts Miles Davis in big dark shades and an open jacket. Thick gold chains dangle around his neck. He's sweating before he even blows the first note. He looks old, a shadow of his former self. But then Miles presses the mouthpiece of the muted trumpet to his lips and leans into one spellbinding solo after another. A thousand emotions emanate from his instrument and linger in the air like impressionistic portraits. Seven minutes zoom past in a matter of seconds. Amazing.
