Today is Election Day in what is considered an "off-year" election, but there are plenty of major political races and issues that will be decided upon locally and throughout the nation.
In the Bay area, St. Petersburg residents have a chance to vote for half of the eight-member body that is their City Council. To say the race has been low-key would be a bit of an understatement, but perhaps there will be a surprise tonight.
There are competitive races in Districts 1, 3 and 7 (Steve Kornell is running against "New Election" in District 5, meaning it will be interesting to see how many people are actively opposed to him by choosing to fill the bubble without a name attached).
