The Washington D.C. based group EMILY's List, a group that supports pro-choice Democratic women, has added former Orlando Police Chief Val Demings "On the List" designation to alert its donor community about promising candidates early in the cycle. But making the list does not amount to a full endorsement from the group.
Demings, the first female police chief in Orlando history, announced earlier this month that she'll be a candidate for Congress in 2012 in the Orlando area, where she intends to run against District 8 Republican Representative Daniel Webster, who took the seat back last year from Democrat Alan Grayson.
Grayson has similarly announced his intention to run again for office, though with redistricting it's not known for sure if he would be running against Demings in a Democratic primary.
