A disc full of grungy guitar riffs and throaty vocals that recall a slew of 1990s rock acts — with a little 1980s power balladry thrown in for good measure. The Tampa-based Brian Chris Band's debut LP Fight For the Cause features ace production values and commendable musicianship, but a banality runs through it that's off-putting. Everything — from the screaming guitar solos to The Doors/Pearl Jam-indebted lyrics of "Five to One" — sounds generic. 2 stars
