1. 2. Head to New World Brewery for tasty brews and tastier music by Soft Targets, with support provided by Mirror Pal and Life of Pi.

3. Take some laughter medicine when ranney does his comedy thang at TBPAC’s Shimberg Playhouse on Friday and Saturday night.

4. Think you have what it takes to be America’s Next Top Model? Auditions are held this Saturday at the Westin Harbor Island.

5. Drop in to the Free Media Art & Film Festival in Ybor City. The main event has been moved to The Ritz Ybor, located only a few blocks away from the original Ybor Cigar Theatre location. The After Party remains at Crowbar. 

6. Drive to O-town on Saturday night. See My Morning Jacket play House of Blues. Have your face melted. Drive home happy.

7. Make a beeline for Tampa Theatre on Sunday afternoon and watch the final installement of its Summer Classic Movie Series, a silent film event screening of Wings with live accompaniment provided by the indomitable Rosa Rio.

8. A giant faux volcano? A Betty Page look-alike? Surf rock, a bikini fashion show and early beach-culture-inspired art by around 30 Florida artists? Yes, it’s another Vitale Brothers party, this one dubbed The Exotic Equinox and held this Sunday evening at their St. Petersburg Studio.

9. Head to Vinyl Fever on Labor Day, rifle through a sidewalk sale of $.99 CDs and $.33 records, and enjoy free, in-store performances by Tampa’s one-man-band King of Spain, singer-songwriter Will Quinlan of the Diviners, and Gainesville’s Morningbell (pictured at left), who also play a show on Sunday night at New World Brewery.

10. Take a step back into the 1800’s at the Pioneer Florida Days fest in Dade City on Monday.
