Here's my Spider-Man 3 soundtrack review that'll show up in print May 10. Flaming Lips fans: Download âThe Supreme Being Teaches Spider-Man How to Be in Loveâ ASAP (well, as soon as you read my glowing critique.)
Spider-Man 3
SOUNDTRACK
Warner Brothers/Record Collection
The new Spidey soundtrack is an alt-rock extravaganza featuring new, download-worthy recordings by the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs (âSealingsâ) Wolfmother (âPleased to Meet Youâ) and The Walkmen (âRed Riverâ) but itâs the Flaming Lips that steal the show. Their contribution is a gorgeous, tricked-out piano ballad called âThe Supreme Being Teaches Spider-Man How to Be in Love.â Originally titled âSpider Man vs. Muhammad Ali,â the caringly crooned lyric finds Spidey in the ring with The Greatest of All Time, but the superheroâs real battle is with his desire to tell the world that he adores Mary Jane Watson. âIâm in love with you but I fight the urge,â sings the
Lipsâ Wayne Coyne. âMuhammad Ali makes a third round surge.â Brilliant.
