A House Democrat filed a proposal Monday that would prevent employers from retaliating against workers who are off work because of going into quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19.

Rep. Christopher Benjamin, D-Miami Gardens, filed the bill (HB 1113) for consideration during the legislative session that will start Jan. 11.

Retaliatory actions, such as dismissals or demotions, would be barred if employees provide proof of positive COVID-19 tests.
