Public hearings on redistricting legislative and congressional districts are about to begin across the state, beginning in Tallahassee next week.

But the once-every-ten-years ritual is occurring under different circumstances this summer — because it comes after Floridians strongly voted last fall for Amendments 5&6, the Fair District measures that call for those lines to be drawn in a fair and contiguous fashion — not gerrymandered by the political party in power.
