Florida Chamber of Commerce leaders will be amending a key talking point raised at meetings and conferences.

On Tuesday, the Florida Chamber Foundation announced Florida has a $1.89 trillion economy, making it the 14th largest in the world, up two places, if the state were an independent country.

The ranking is based upon U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis data compared to the gross domestic product figures posted by the World Bank.

World Bank data puts the U.S. economy in 2025 at $30.77 trillion, followed by China at $19.45 trillion, Germany at $5.05 trillion, Japan at $4.4 trillion and the United Kingdom at $4 trillion.

The Chamber noted Florida’s economy has to grow about 2 percent a year to surpass South Korea and will need about 21 percent additional growth to move into the top ten.

California last year claimed to be the fourth largest economy in the world, with its gross domestic product at $4.1 trillion. The total would be good for 5th place this year.

A separate list, from Investopedia, puts the U.S. economy at $32.38 trillion, followed by China at $20.85 trillion, Germany at $5.45 trillion, Japan at $4.38 trillion and the United Kingdom at $4.24 trillion.

In that list, Florida would remain at 16.
