For the second consecutive year, Barnes & Noble and Writer’s Digest Books are co-sponsoring the World’s Largest Writing Workshop.

The workshop takes place simultaneously at almost 500 Barnes & Noble stores nationwide at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, reaching thousands of writers.

Authors and speakers from some of the nation’s largest and more prestigious organizations — including associated writing programs and Romance Writers of America — are leading a number of the workshops.

Barnes & Noble-Brandon has begun its own writing club since last year’s workshop, where speaker Frank P. Thomas, author of How to Write the Story of Your Life, covered writing query letters and gave a case history of a book proposal.

Writers of all genres are welcome to bring their work to share with other attendees. Workbooks with writing exercises are also being made available to help beginning authors.

Topics of discussion range from developing ideas to marketing those ideas and publishing your book.

The co-sponsors are rather ideal partners for such an event. Writer’s Digest has helped writers get published since 1921, and Barnes & Noble supports aspiring writers through such programs as their Discover Great New Writers series.

The following Barnes & Noble locations are taking part in the event: Barnes & Noble-Brandon, 122 Brandon Town Center Drive (813-661-9883); Barnes & Noble-Clearwater, 23654 U.S. 19 N. (727-669-1688); Barnes & Noble-Carrollwood, 11802 N. Dale Mabry (813-962-6446).
