The people of Florida now have marijuana on their minds. Medical cannabis is already the law with Governor Rick Scott's recent passing of the “Compassionate Medical Cannabis Act of 2014” (see Senate 1030 bill here). State residents have shown they do not want to break the laws, but change them. This coming November, Floridians have the opportunity to do so by voting on Amendment 2, which would make it legal for those with certain illnesses to lawfully purchase pot.
KC Stark, Colorado Springs native and business leader, has come to Florida to be a part of the 'canna-craze'. Coined the 'Steve Jobs of Weed,' he says his mission is to create the Steve Jobs of the marijuana world. “We want to educate the people, he says. We want to teach people the tools they need to be a part of a revolution. Knowledge is power, and I want to put power in the hands of the people.”
Stark says the ‘Green Wave’ is here and that his business seminars at the Marijuana Business Academy are a useful tool to educate our state. His one-day ‘Weeducation’ program enables a foundation of what exactly Floridians need to know if amendment 2 passes. The seminar includes topics such as: qualification process, state applications, seed to sale tracking, medicine and money, retail & cultivation operations, state filings, federal tax issues, and compliance. All these topics and more for a mere $299 (or ‘less than an ounce’), and your dedication to marijuana education for a day. Stark's MMJ Business Academy will be held in Miami on July 19 at the InterContinental Hotel Dural., followed by a Latin party after to reward your hard work. The following day, July 20th, is the ‘Capital INFusion INClusion Summit'. This four-hour event gives individuals a chance to pitch their marijuana-related business proposals to a board of executives and brokers with funds to make their ideas a reality.
Stark is convinced that cannabis is the solution for better business and well-being. He explains, “It’s actually a multi-generational tidal wave. We’re seeing the hippie generation that tuned out-tuning back in, and the younger generation has total access to information that was not available: what we have created is the perfect storm of awareness and power.” He goes on to say, “Now the hippie generation are senators, governors, and presidents and the younger generation are the entrepreneurs that are tired of the decline of the American industrial textile. This generation has gone through the greatest recession and cannabis is a 100% ‘Made in the USA’ solution.” This could be Florida's chance to cultivate change from it's pill-mill connotation to a 'Green Revolution'.
When asked what he thought of Governor Rick Scott's recent signing of the medical CBD strain ‘Charlotte's Web', he acknowledged that it's a start. “The Senate bill 1030 is the beginning of awareness. A first step to help Florida combat illnesses and create jobs.” Floridians know it is a small step in the right direction, but we needed a point of reference, and this is where it has to happen.
When asked what his thoughts were concerning Sheldon Adelson’s recent $2.5 million contribution to the opposition of Amendment 2, Stark was quick to respond. “Money is never more powerful than people. This is not about money, this about America. We will not sit back and let people try to buy insanity. It is not 'We the Government', it is 'We the People'”.
In the words of KC, “Turn off your apathy button, get off your ass, register to vote, read the laws that govern you, and change them.”
