Sunken Gardens is a luscious paradise of meandering paths and lush tropical greenery. But we suggest checking out the larger-but-lesser-known Florida Botanical Gardens, which features 182-acres of Florida native plants, exotic tropicals well-adapted to the local climate and plenty of butterflies. Admission is free (though donations are appreciated). Open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, 12520 Ulmerton Road, Largo, 727-582-2200, flbg.org.
