Last week CL reported that former South Dakota U.S. Senator George McGovern would be giving a speech and signing copies of his latest book, What it Means to be a Democrat.
However, Inkwood Books owner Carla Jimenez (whose store was sponsoring the appearance) tells CL that McGovern, who was recently hospitalized for exhaustion, has canceled his appearance, which was scheduled for December 1 at the Tampa Tribune auditorium.
McGovern's hometown newspaper, the South Dakota Rapid City Journal, reported in late October that the former Democratic presidential nominee had been hospitalized for for five days for "extreme fatigue."
