Fun fact: German Shepherd dogs started as herding dogs, not police dogs. Which makes them great if you own sheep, but also, they’re pretty great pets, too.
If you’re thinking a larger-than-a-breadbox pup known for its loyalty and courage — and also its ability to learn complicated (for dogs; your new BFF is not going to do your taxes for you or anything) tasks — is the perfect addition to your home, why not come out and support your local rescue, Heidi’s Legacy?
Heidi’s Legacy, of course, has other adoptables, too — currently, they have adoptable dogs ranging in size from chihuahua to Great Pyrenees — but they started with a GSD, Heidi (warning: her story will make you cry).
During Saturday’s adoption event in Tampa, Invisible Fence of Florida will cover a portion of all adoption fees. Invisible Fence will also donate a pet oxygen mask kit to one Tampa area fire department (that’s part of their Project Breathe Program); residents can nominate their local fire department here.
