Money can be hard to come by in elections, and Florida has a decades-old policy that provides funds for eligible candidates who must meet fundraising thresholds and agree to spending limits.

Public financing helps level a playing field in a world where monied donors increasingly hold purse strings and call the shots—but lawmakers who voted to place Amendment 6 on the ballot say that taxpayer money could be directed elsewhere.

Voters already shot down a similar amendment in 2010, signaling that they want fair and competitive elections and a check on the influence outside money has on our politics. Let’s keep it that way.

Vote “no” on Florida’s Amendment 6 about public campaign financing requirements.

No. 6 Constitutional Amendment Article VI, Section 7

Repeal of Public Campaign Financing Requirement
Proposing the repeal of the provision in the State Constitution which requires public financing for campaigns of candidates for elective statewide office who agree to campaign spending limits.
