Apparently, even fifty years ago, some were already hip to the notion of global warming.
This prophetic video (below) is a clip from an episode of a series of educational films called "The Bell Laboratory Science Series", that aired in the late '50s to mid '60s, and were shown in science classrooms for many years. (Fun fact: The show's producer was none other than the Oscar-winning director, Frank Capra.)
This particular episode, Meteora: The Unchained Goddess (very fitting), talks about some of the causes and effects of global warming. What's ironic is that we're now hearing the same things stated in the video, but on a much larger and wider scale, and it's only now (more than fifty years later) become a serious issue. Why? Gee, I guess it's because we are finally seeing major changes in our environment because of all of the carbon dioxide and pollutants we've pumped into our atmosphere over the years.
I think this quote from the person who posted the video on YouTube sums up the feelings of those of us who are global warming theory supporters quite well:
"But what does it reveal? That our scientists have known for over two generations about this danger, but our politicians and citizenry have chosen to ignore the dangerous implications of this fact until it really is too late to avoid the preventable consequences. Perhaps we deserve our fate."
