Good news for Florida's coasts: No drilling to be done this year (plus next Coastal Task Force meeting date)

There is actually good news from the Florida Legislature: Nearshore drilling won’t be happening this year! Thank you to everyone who attended the Hands Across the Sand protests on the beaches and at the recent Town Hall meeting to help get our message across.

We must now turn all eyes to the U.S. Senate where Senators John Kerry, Phil Graham, and Joe Lieberman are creating a 2500+ page climate (energy security?) bill, with some (rumored) very ominous drilling language aimed directly at the eastern Gulf and Pinellas County shores — and I’m not talking about the 125 mile limit that was publicly touted by President “O” 2 weeks ago. There is much more in that bill for us to look at.
