Green Party presidential candidate Dr. Jill Stein and running mate Butch Ware are coming to Tampa.

The two will be hosting a free panel discussion and meet-and-greet fundraiser on Sept. 3, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the Tampa Heights Youth Development and Community Center.

The event will also feature Senior Advisors of the Black Liberation Party, President of All of Us or None Wisconsin, Jacqui Luqman of the Black Agenda Report and Black Alliance for Peace, and Minister Caliph Muab-El.

Tampa-based DJ Dilman, plus emcees Albert J and Psych Montano, will perform live music following the panel from 8 p.m.-9 p.m.

The panel is in support for the “Uhuru Three,” who are facing federal charges. Their trial will begin next week in Tampa. The African Peopleโ€™s Socialist Party, also known as the International Peopleโ€™s Democratic Uhuru Movement, is a St. Petersburg-based Black nationalist group that had three members indicted for allegedly working on behalf of the Russian government.

This is Stein’s third time running for president, as she was previously the Green Party’s candidate in the 2012 and 2016 elections. She previously visited Tampa in 2016, stopping at Ybor City’s Cuban Club.

Her platform focuses on fighting environmental injustices, and she was a principal organizer for the Global Climate Convergence for People, Planet, and Peace over Profit.

According to Quinnipiac University’s national poll of likely voters, released on Aug. 29, Stein is currrently receiving about 1% support from voters, compared to Kamala Harris’ 49% and Donald Trump’s 47% support.

Recently, Stein told Newsweek she has no plans to drop out of the race and “would never” back Harris. In 2016, Clinton’s campaign argued that Stein was a major factor in Hillary Clinton’s loss to Donald Trump.
