Tom Krupenking and Ashley Taylor of the University of Wisconsin have come up with a way to harness the energy created by human motion to power small gadgets, like smart phones — through the sole of a sneaker!

Their concept — called the Instep Nanopower — utilizes the kinetic energy of someone walking to activate a liquid metal alloy droplets, called Galinstan, inside of special sole inserts to create power.
