In a story that has right wing blogs afire, Tampa Bay area Congressman Gus Bilirakis has written a letter regarding reports that the Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) have purposely allowed firearms to pass into the possession of criminals and other dangerous third party organizations
Bilirakis writes that he has "deep concerns" regarding whether the ATF and the DOJ have participated in "multiple acts of gun walking." That is, allowing guns to pass from a straw purchaser into the hands of criminals.
“These reports,” Bilirakis writes, “raise troubling questions about the motives, intentions, and competency of the ATF and DOJ.”
This story has become a hot trending topic on conservative talk radio after it was it initially reported by the Washington Examiner.
