We got a kick about reading that at the Governors Luncheon at the State Fair yesterday, Tampa City Council Chairman, mayoral candidate and minister Thomas Scott implored Governor Rick Scott to okay high speed rail while giving the invocation.

Even though private businesses who will bid for the Tampa-Orlando route may be compelled to make up the difference in how much the feds have already allotted, Governor Scott seems more intent on making political statements than what is best for Florida.  So the prayer was probably appropriate.

Speaking of the Governor, we take issue with his again referring to Texas as the economic model that Florida should emulate, what with their huge deficit about to hit.

We interviewed famed political analyst Charlie Cook on Friday, and today publish the first part of that interview, where the D.C. insider blasts Mitt Romney as somehow not having the right stuff to become the next GOP presidential nominee.

And Tampa City Council candidate Harry Cohen is on a roll: another newspaper endorsement, and everybody seemingly wants to help him financially in his race for the District 4 City Council seat.

Again we apologize for no podcast today – looking forward to getting back into the office tomorrow.
