With pressure building to wrap up the alternative analysis (AA) six months after Hillsborough County voters rejected a penny transit tax to fund light rail, the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit agency (HART) voted Monday morning to conclude the study in a couple of months, but not before they complete a couple of actions that preserve some key information.

The move is a compromise between the strong sentiment expressed earlier this month to kill the study outright, now that there is no intention of going ahead with a light rail plan, vs. continuing to complete the study, which has been nearly two years in the making and would include a blueprint for the community to go forward in a few years if the push for rail or bus rapid transit is resuscitated.
