Hillsborough County commissioner candidates to speak in Ybor City forum next week

Nine candidates will be speaking at Tampa Tiger Bay Club's "County Commission Candidate Forum" next Friday, Aug. 19, at The Cuban Club in Ybor City.
With primary elections for Hillsborough County Commission happening right now, let's see what the candidates have to say before the deadline to vote on Aug. 23.

Nine candidates will be speaking at Tampa Tiger Bay Club's "County Commission Candidate Forum" next Friday, Aug. 19, at The Cuban Club in Ybor City. The forum begins at noon and includes lunch, but only club members will be able to ask the candidates questions during the event. Buy tickets online.

Confirmed candidates to speak at the forum:
  • District 1 - Incumbent Harry Cohen (DEM), Scott Levinson (REP)
  • District 2 - Angela Birdsong (DEM)
  • District 4 - Noelle Licor (REP)
  • District 5 - Incumbent Mariella Smith (DEM),  Donna Lynch Cameron- Cepeda (REP),
  • District 7 - Incumbent Kimberly Overman (DEM), Chase Harrison (REP), Joshua Wostal (REP)
All candidates from  Districts 1, 2, 4, 5 and 7 have been invited to participate.

The Tampa Bay Tiger Club is non-partisan political group that hosts open discussion forums that subject candidates to "no-holds-barred" questions spanning across a wide variety of topics. General memberships start at $75 annually and $50 annually if under the age of 30.

Voting day in primary elections for Hillsborough County Commission is scheduled for Aug. 23 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.  Early voting is happening now through Aug. 21 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more voting information, visit the Hillsborough County website.
