The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit authority has announced its service plans for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. On Tuesday, Dec. 25, HART’s transit options will run on a Sunday schedule. A Sunday schedule is also in store for Tuesday, Jan. 1.

Travelers can expect a regular weekday schedule Monday, Dec. 24, and the same goes for Monday, Dec. 31. However, on New Year’s Eve, the streetcar system — which will operate like usual Jan. 1, but won’t be up and running Dec. 25 — will also extend operations until 2 a.m. to prevent Champagne-toasting revelers from getting behind the wheel.

This move, by the way, could really come in handy, considering the way ride-hail companies inflate their prices during peak hours.

After all of that holiday celebrating, HART will resume normal service Wednesday, Dec. 26, and Wednesday, Jan. 2.
