Hundreds gathered, mostly in protest, at the Hale Senior Center in Dunedin for a July 5 public hearing on the proposed plan to build campgrounds on Honeymoon Island State Park.

The line into the meeting stretched north up Douglas Avenue, with the fire marshal closing the building off just before the meeting’s 7 p.m. start time, after the building reached maximum occupancy. A loudspeaker was set up just outside the door to allow the hundred or so left outside to hear the meeting.
