Right now we’re in the middle of what’s referred to as “fake winter,” when the calendar technically says its winter but the temps are at scorching record highs. So, it’s comforting to know that next week it will in fact be “real winter.”

According to the National Weather Service, Tampa Bay will experience a significant cold front starting Monday, January 20 through at least Thursday, January 23. Sunday there’s a good chance of rain, but after that expect plenty of “chilly” days.

As of now, Monday will be the coolest so far, with highs expected to be in the low 60s, and overnight lows in the 30s.

Forecasters anticipate coolers temps through the next 10 days, which is great news for anyone planning on attending the Gasparilla parade in a full-on pirate suit.
