Yale University professor Jacob Hacker in recent years has become well known as one of the best minds in public life writing and speaking about progressive public policy issues. Hacker is the co-author of the recently published Winner-Take-All Politics: How Washington Made the Richer Richer—and Turned Its Back on the Middle Class (published by Simon & Shuster and co-written with Paul Pierson at Cal-Berkeley), argues that since the late 1970s the American middle and working classes have fallen further and further behind economically because policy changes in government favor the rich and super-rich. His other notable works include The Great Risk Shift: The New Economic Insecurity and the Decline of the American Dream, Off Center: The Republican Revolution, and The Erosion of American Democracy.
The Sarasota based group Forum Truth has just announced that Hacker will appear at the Sarasota Hyatt Regency on March 15th.
That organization will also be bringing to town New York Times and CNBC reporter (and formerly of the St. Pete Times) John Harwood on March 2, political analyst Charlie Cook on February 21, and civil libertarian Mort Halperin on February 7.
Halperin served under LBJ, Richard Nixon and Jimmy Carter in various government roles.
