In response to President Donald Trump's firing Attorney General Jeff Sessions yesterday, several progressive groups have coordinated nationwide protests, set to take place today (Thursday, Nov. 8) at 5 p.m. local time.

Protests will take place on both sides of Tampa Bay. In St. Petersburg, protestors will meet at South Straub Park; in Tampa, the protest will take place at Curtis Hixon Park.

There are also protests in Dunedin, Land O'Lakes,Port Richey, Sarasota and Tarpon Springs.

Trump has replaced Sessions with Matt Whitaker, who was serving as the president's chief of staff. Whitaker has criticized the Mueller investigation and, while Sessions had recused himself, citing a conflict because of his involvement in Trump's campaign, Whitaker has not done so yet.
