How have popular cable shows and

commercial film hits like Brokeback Mountain  influenced the future

of gay and lesbian filmmaking? What kinds of films are necessary in terms of

education and awareness? Can films motivate social change? What voices and depictions

have yet to be seen?

These questions and many others will be addressed tonight by Casque d’Or Films

president Veronique Courtois; 101 Must See Movies for Gay Men author/critic

Alonso Duralde; Small Town Gay Bar director Malcolm

Ingram; Tall Tail director Mark McCormick; Almost Myself director

Tom Murray; and Creative Loafing film critic Lance Goldenberg. The

filmmaker panel discussion, “What is the Future of Queer Cinema?” is presented

by the Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Fest, and is free and open to

the public.

5:30 p.m. Mon., Oct. 9, Tampa Theatre, 711 N. Frankling St., downtown Tampa.
