Lilly Ledbetter is coming to the University of South Florida's St.Petersburg campus.
The former Goodyear Tire employee, who has become a feminist icon after her plight about unequal pay became a campaign issue last year, will speak at Professor Judithanne Scourfield McLaughlin's Women and the Law Class on Thursday, October 22nd, at 11AM.
In a brief phone conversation, Professor McLaughlin said that as the pre-Law advisor on campus, it fell to her this year to plan an event in conjunction for Constitution Day.
Of course, that was observed on September 17th. But McLaughlin said that after it dawned on her that Ledbetter would be an ideal speaker, she soon learned that the woman who has now had a law named for her is in demand, and thus wouldn't be available until late October.
Ledbetter will be in St. Pete on October, beginning at 11AM. The event is free, but you must RSVP.
You can do so by calling 727-873-4773, or emailing at civicengage@stpt.usf.edu
