Singer/songwriter Ronny Elliott saw Diddley perform in his prime and toured with him about a decade later:

My mother took me to the armory [on N. Howard Ave.] in Tampa for a show in 1956. When Bo Diddley took the stage I thought his rumble would buckle the walls. I had never experienced anything remotely similar and I haven't since.

When we did a short tour with him a decade and a half later we got to be pals.
