As he's promised for months, Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum, along with several other states Attorneys General, filed a lawsuit this afternoon against the federal government for the individual mandate provision of the health care reform bill that requires all Americans to get health insurance (He also publicly announced that he is paying nationally known conservative attorney David Rifkin to consult with him and the 12 other AG's on the lawsuit).

At a similar press event on Monday, McCollum, running for the Republican nomination for Governor, denied that there were any politics involved in his filing the suit.  But after his news conference today, where he was joined by several Republican House and Senate officials who denounced far more than the constitutional aspect of the bill, he can no longer say that with a straight face.
