It appears that incumbent Tampa City Councilwoman Gwen Miller has had just about enough of this shit. Her campaign began phoning voters this week, with a live-person call telling remining recipients of challenger Joe Redner's numerous arrests (only three cases stuck, by the way) and how he earns his millions "by exploiting women" as a strip club owner. The call ends with an query about whether she can count on the voter's support at the polls next Tuesday. Wonder what her numbers are telling her?

Still no direct mail yet from Miller, but you have to think something is coming.

Redner, in the meantime, dropped a second direct mail piece, titled "Denise Chavez Endorses Joe Redner." Chavez finished fourth in the primary. The piece also quotes his editorial recommendation from the St. Petersburg Times and a glowing quote from Tribune columnist/curmudgeon Dan Ruth that says, "However, in the debates, it has been Redner who is emerging as the candidate with a keener understanding of issue such as transportation, housing, water and economic development."

Miller is also making hay out of a comment Redner made about being more black than she is. You can read about that here. Oh, (insider baseball upcoming) and touche for Zink, second day in a row.
