Hello everybody, welcome back to a new edition of MPR- back after nearly two weeks off, most of it spent in the San Francisco Bay Area that was my home until 2000.

We're back blogging for today and tomorrow, and then come back fully loaded next Monday, the beginning of 2011.

A few items for you today to read up on, including what's actually happening in San Francisco and the state of California, as Jerry Brown takes his second turn at leading the state that he was first elected to back in 1974.

With the holidays still ongoing, there doesn't appear to be much happening in the mayoral or city council races over the time I've been gone, though longtime Tampa City Council member Charlie Miranda did announce yesterday he will run for re-election in District 6 next March.

And upon returning to this Bay area, I was stunned to read yesterday that Tampa's venerable indie rock record store, Vinyl Fever, will soon be going out of business.  Read more here.
