Later today in CL we'll have another dispatch of college students in Florida protesting tuition rate hikes. Today's local event takes place at the USF-St. Pete campus, one of what organizers say will be a series of protests all week up and down the state.
Well. we're now 5 weeks (and a day) away from the Iowa Caucuses, where the people – in this case, in Iowa – will finally get a chance to participate in the process after the months long campaign. That's followed up a week later in New Hampshire, where one of the leading newspapers there endorsed the now ascendant Newt Gingrich yesterday.
After the supercommittee blew up last week, Congress returns to D.C. this week, with Democrats hoping to continue to maintain a a break on payroll taxes, as well as extend unemployment benefits. But a couple of leading Republicans – Herman Cain and Arizona Senator Jon Kyle, said yesterday they're not that excited about those items.
