We led our report on Friday to a link to Howard Altman's piece in the Tribune on the use of drones for the RNC.

Well apparently someone in the top echelons of our national security system didn't like that news going public just days from the convention, as that same source clammed up yesterday when follow-up calls his way, leading the Tampa Bay Times to report that the Trib got it wrong.

When Altman called his source again on Friday, he told him he had "misspoke." Whatever. We'll find out soon enough if that's the case, though TPD spokesperson Laura McElroy reaffirmed again on Saturday that drones wouldn't be used, as the department has maintained for months.

The Paul Festival 2012 continues today in Tampa. CL checked out the proceedings on Day 1.

According to the latest weather predictions, Monday might be a total b*tch of a day, weather wise. That's also the most organized (publicly, at least) protest is scheduled to take place. On Friday, organizers said it was still on.

And while Tampa basks in the spotlight, some folks in the rest of HIllsborough County are feeling slighted, slightly.
