Nikki Fried is the new Florida Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services, according to a report by Bay News 9.

Challenger Matt Caldwell reportedly called his opponent to concede on Monday, as Fried's lead grew to some 6,700 votes. Caldwell's concession ostensibly means there won't be any legal challenges to the statewide recount triggered by the close race. His statement did, however, call out the "abject failures in Broward and Palm Beach," and hinted that, you know, we may never find out whether Fried really, actually won.

Fried becomes the first Democrat to join the Florida Cabinet since Alex Sink served as Florida's chief financial officer from 2007-2011.
