While in solitary confinement at Lake Butler Correctional, Paey wrote the sweat-stained letter at right to Eric Snider. Here is an excerpt: "Dear Eric, I'm now in a confinement cell (exile) in Lake Butler, Fla. If Fla. has a Siberia, this is it. But instead of freezing you cook in the heat. It's especially hard for me because my MS makes me heat intolerant. Between my exhaustion, confusion, and the dripping sweat from my arm, I stop [writing] quite often. (The water marks on this paper is sweat.) I'm alone in the cell. I have 1-inch matt on top of a steel shelf for my bed, I get two sheets. It has a toilet and sink. That's it. The door is solid steel; I'm fed thru the flap. My closet at home is bigger. It's confinement, it's meant to be punishment the guards say! But I didn't do anything wrong…"
