If Christmas carols make your ears bleed, and the children are driving Grandma to an early grave, take a break from the holiday kitsch and head down to MOSI's newest exhibition — Monsters of the Deep. Covering 15,000 square feet and 360 million years of history, the exhibit features fleshy, life-size specimens of prehistoric aquatic reptiles and modern monsters like the giant squid, plus interactive stations for some hands-on fun. Save some time to take in the IMAX premier of Aliens of the Deep, a James Cameron (Titanic) documentary on the bizarre and freakish creatures that inhabit the deepest ocean depths. The opening occurs Dec. 22; Monsters is on display 9 a.m.-6 p.m. daily through April 29 (IMAX showtimes vary), 4801 E. Fowler Ave., Tampa, 813-987-6100, www.mosi.org.
